The Transition was executed in two phases
- Phase One: BaNCS system was first implemented on ten pilot branches. Every aspect of banking was covered under the system like mobile banking,customer relationship and trade finance etc. Once it proved to be effective the Indian Bank shifted to the next phase.
- Phase Two: The system was expanded to all the other branches and 62 administrative offices. The BaNCS system was officially in place at Indian Bank.

On average when a customer opens an account with Indian Bank they will issue an account number with 9 digits. Indian Bank tends to follow the BaNCS system so one can expect their account number to be completely random.
