For IPad And IPhone

Step 1: Go to Google Podcast.

Step 2: Navigate to Home and tap on it.

Step 4: Open Podcast Settings.

Step 5: Navigate to Playback from there.

Step 6: Turn off Autoplay From Queue.

For Android Devices

If you are using an android device you can turn off auto download and that should save you from Google Podcast playing any episodes automatically.

Android devices do not have an option of autoplay so the issue itself should not be happening if you are an android user but if you want to stop your auto downloads then you can do that easily.

Step 1: First, open Google Podcast.

Step 2: Navigate to the bottom of the screen and tap on Home.

Step 3: At the top right tap on the profile picture to your initials.

Step 4: select Podcast Settings.

Step 5: Navigate to the Downloads section and select Auto Downloading.

Step 6: Turn off Auto Download New Episodes.

For Desktop

If you are using a desktop then there is no auto play or auto download option but rather personalized recommendation.

You can turn it off to check whether the issue is resolved. As your desktop does not have any autopay option, you should not be facing the autoplay issue but if you want to turn the Recommendation off then you can follow the steps below.

Step 1: Open Google podcast from your computer.

Step 2: Go to the top left and click on Menu.

Step 3: Select Settings from the menu.

Step 4: Navigate to Personalization.

Step 5: Turn off the Show Personalized Recommendations from the options available.
