If you’re experiencing issues with your DIRECTV Stream remote not working or not pairing, you’re not alone.
Many DIRECTV Stream users have reported problems with their remotes, including difficulty pairing the remote to their TV and issues with the remote not responding to commands.
These issues can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps DIRECTV Stream Remote Not Working Or Not Pairing
If your DIRECTV Stream remote is not working or not pairing, there could be several reasons why.
Here are some of the most common issues and how to troubleshoot them:
1. Dead Batteries
One of the most common reasons why your DIRECTV Stream remote may not be working is dead batteries.
To check if this is the issue, press and hold any button on your remote. If you see a slow, blinking green light or no light at all or blinking red light, it’s time to replace the batteries.
Make sure to insert the batteries correctly and firmly.
2. Remote Not Paired
If your remote is not paired with your DIRECTV Stream device, it won’t work. To pair your remote, follow these steps:
- Press Home on your remote.
- Select Settings > System > System Settings.
- Select Remote & Devices.
- Select Program Your Remote.
- Select TV or Speaker System depending on your device.
- Follow the prompts.
Make sure you are close enough to the DIRECTV Stream Box and pointing towards the IR receiver on the device. The remote lights will blink blue when pairing.
3. Resync The Remote
If your remote is not working, you can try resyncing it. Here’s how:
- Press Home on your remote.
- Select Settings > System > System Settings.
- Select Remote & Devices.
- Select Resync Remote.
- Follow the prompts.
Make sure you are close enough to the DIRECTV Stream Box and pointing towards the IR receiver on the device. The remote lights will blink blue and purple when resyncing.
4. Check Mode Setting
If your remote is not responding, changing channels, or adjusting the volume, make sure you have a direct line of sight to the receiver.
Next, make sure your remote is set to control your DIRECTV Stream receiver:
- At the top of the remote, slide the mode switch all the way to the left.
5. Check The Line Of Sight
The DIRECTV Stream remote uses light to send signals to the device, so it’s important that there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the device.
Make sure there are no obstructions blocking the signal, such as furniture or other objects.
If necessary, move the device to a different location where the remote has a clear line of sight.
6. Reset The Receiver
If none of the above solutions work, try resetting the receiver. Press the Guide button on the front panel of the receiver.
If it works, continue with the steps below. If not, make sure the receiver is powered on and troubleshoot the receiver.
