The initial step towards recruiting Byleth is to unlock the Locate Ambushers strategy. For this, closely monitor the map and find the Menja territory on it.
Once you find this territory on your map, look for a survey spot on which you will find Locate Ambushers strategy.
Step 2: Select Locate Ambushers Strategy
Now, you will have to directly select Locate Ambushers strategy from the list before starting the battle.
Once you select this option, do not forget to save it.
In case you are not able to save the settings, you will not be able to recruit Byleth on your game.
Step 3: Use The Locate Ambushers Strategy
After the game begins and you begin to face the mercenary Ambushers on your main mission, simply use the locate Ambushers strategy there and move forward
Step 4: Protect Yourself From The Sight Of Mercenary
Next, you will have to make sure that you save yourself from getting spotted by the mercenary.
If the mercenary spots you or your companions, you will not be able to recruit Byleth and your mission will fail.
It is highly recommended to use all-out defense on the right-hand side stronghold at the bottom to save yourself from getting spotted
Step 5: Follow The Green Arrows
Once you reach here, your path will be lighted with green arrows that will highlight a path at which the mercenary can not spot you.
Make sure you eliminate all the stronghold leaders by defeating them to open the gates and make your way forward.
Once you successfully follow the safe path, your objective will be changed to defeat Fleche
Step 6: Defeat Fleche And Mercenaries
Next, you will have to use your assets and techniques to defeat the mercenaries first.
Make sure while defeating you restrict their entry to the allied bases completely and carefully.
Once all the mercenaries are out, you will have to defeat Fleche
Step 7: Defeat Randolph
The next move will be a choice. You will be asked to choose between defeating Randolph and Byleth.
Ensure that you make your next mission to defeat Randolph only.
In case you defeat Byleth instead of Randolph here, you will not be able to recruit them for yourself.
Therefore, move forward with your main mission to defeat Randolph.
Step 8: End The Battle With Byleth And Jeralt At Your Side
Once you defeat Randolph instead of byleth, the battle will come to an end. When the battle ends, the Byleth and Jeralt will automatically align with your team and hence, Byleth will be recruited for you.
