Does Metamask Support All Coins?

No, Metamask does not support all types of cryptocurrencies available currently.

It only supports Ethereum and those coins that are built on networks compatible with the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20).

Therefore, apart from ETH, it can only add coins based on the following networks – Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, Fantom, Avalanche, Cronos, Harmony ONE, Velas, HECO, Arbitrum and xDAI.

In short, any token that has been based on ETH is eligible in Metamask.

Does Metamask Support Bitcoin?

No, Metamask cannot be used for buying and storing Bitcoin because it is based on a different blockchain (the Bitcoin blockchain) that is discrete from Ethereum.

To recall, Metamask is only compatible with ETH and ERC20 tokens.

Can you Add Dogecoin to Metamask?

No, It is not possible to add Dogecoin on Metamask because Dogecoin is built on the native DOGE blockchain which is also discrete from Ethereum.

You will only be able to hold DOGE on Metamask if you get the Binance-peg DOGE token which is in fact built on the Binance Smart Chain. 

Steps to Add Dogecoin to MetaMask:

  1. Login to your Metamask Account 
  2. Under ‘Networks’, ensure that you have the ‘Smart Chain’ ticked 
  3. Select ‘Import Tokens
  4. Select ‘Import Custom Token
  5. From the CoinMarketCap Page on Doge (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dogecoin/) – copy the Contract Address and paste it under ‘Token Contract Address’
  6. Verify that under the Token Symbol, ‘DOGE’ should appear. 
  7. If yes, then click on ‘Add Custom Token’

Then, under the Assets, you will be able to see DOGE and this will show only those DOGE coins and tokens that you have sent via the Binance Smart Chain.

Can you Add Shiba Inu to Metamask?

Yes, you can add Shiba Inu to Metamask because it is based on ERC-20.

Steps to Add Shiba Inu coin to MetaMask:

  1. Login to your Metamask Account 
  2. Under ‘Networks’, ensure that you have the ‘Ethereum Mainnet’ ticked 
  3. Select ‘Import Tokens’
  4. Select ‘Import Custom Token
  5. From the CoinMarketCap Page on Doge (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/shiba-inu/) – copy the Contract Address and paste it under ‘Token Contract Address’
  6. Verify that under the Token Symbol, ‘SHIB’ should appear. 
  7. If yes, then click on ‘Add Custom Token

If you have any SHIB deposited by the ERC-20 network, you can see it appear here on your Metamask wallet. 

Can Metamask Hold Solana?

No, there is no way to add Solana to Metamask because the former is based on the Solana blockchain which is discrete from the Ethereum blockchain.
