Krafton’s famous battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has been removed from Google and Apple Indian app stores.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the game was removed from Google Play store and the Apple App Store on Thursday 28th July 2022 evening as a result of a Indian government order.
Earlier July 2022, Krafton said that there were 100 million users who had enrolled in India.
A Google spokesperson confirmed the app suspension to Moneycontrol and said: “On receipt of the order, following established process, we have notified the affected developer and have blocked access to the app that remained available on the Play Store in India.”
“We are clarifying how BGMI was removed from Google Play store and the App store and will let you know once we get specific information” a Krafton spokesperson said in a statement to Moneycontrol.
Why BGMI Removed From App Store?
BGMI was removed from Google Play store and the Apple App Store on Thursday 28th July 2022 evening as a result of a Indian government order.
BGMI is one of the most well-liked video games ever made for Indian gamers. The esports tournament for the game was shown live in prime time on national television.
Despite the event’s massive viewership, the game’s removal from the Play Store and App Store doesn’t bode well for Indian esports.
In July of year 2021, Krafton relaunched PUBG Mobile as Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), promising to keep data locally and to abide with Indian government regulations on data security. The only app that has been suspended and then returned to the market is probably this one.
Users are shocked by BGMI’s withdrawal from the Google Play Store or apple app store. When they search for the game, no relevant results come up.
But if they attempt to access it through the link on Google Play store , a message saying “We’re sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server” appears on their screen.
